I figure that if we do a fantasy draft, it will really decrease the amount of trading that could possibly happen, because everyone will start out with teams that they are pretty happy with already. I wouldn't want to trade my 20th round pick for your 20th round pick because I already chose my player over yours. I wouldn't want to trade my crap for yours, kind of idea, and I figure most GMs would act in the same way. Actual rosters or randomly evenly distributed teams would be preferable so that I can have 15 guys that I want to get rid of lol.
Warriors protect Justin Paulic, Morgan Rielly, and Torrin White.

Ok, after further research, here are the HITMEN's 3 protected players(sorry man): Victor Rask, Calder Brooks, and Jaynen Rissling... I also agree with the Warriors post,,random will make for more action!!

I do agree with that, that randomizing the rest of the players will create more trading and activity in the league. The only questionable thing with that is how to create it that the random assigned players are fair for everyone. It would suck to be stuck with all bench 19 year olds, where as one team gets loaded with top young talent. Just need to even it out so that all the teams are fair. One suggestion maybe to have like 3 managers do a draft of the remaining players in the league, so that all the players are dispersed evenly. And then drafted teams randomly assigned to the whl sim teams.
