Just a question to put out there... Has there been anything decided about what we are doing for off-season rerates of players.
I know last off-season, there was a large "lack" of support or initiative from most of the GM's to do rerates. I know my team in general, I had multiple players who should have been rerated by the other GM's and they were not even done. I think to make the league a level playing field for the upcoming season, we should have a system in place so every team is on the same page.
And IMHO, if a GM does not have the time to do rerates in the off-season, they should not be in this league since this is a full-time commitment, and not a "seasonal" commitment. I don't feel like getting shafted right at the start of the season due to poor rerates .
Thanks

Everyone got rerated by which ever that small group that did the rerates was. If they didn't change they decided they didn't need to change. As for being a "full-time commitment". Its a sim-league, which makes it a part-time commitment. A year round thing, yes, full-time no. There should only be a few people doing rerates anyways if everyone does them people will rate players this way, and others that way, it'd just be stupid. At this point they should be done based on SIM stats anyways.

Well according to my sources, most of the rerates were done by the commish last summer because many of the GM's in the league came up with excuses for reasons not to spend a little time rerating the teams. I for one was one who took time to rerate the "real OHL Kingston" team and didn't find it too difficult to manage. The point I am trying to get across is that there seems to be some huge "gaps" in the way some of the teams were rerated. I am not blaming the commish from last summer, as I felt he did a good job in keeping the league afloat, it was that the rerates, some were updated, some were not, and if you follow the real OHL closely, you will know what I am talking about.
As for my comment about this being a full-time commitment, maybe I should rephrase it as being a full-time commitment during the hockey season, and part-time during the summer (rerates, draft, trades etc). I

I know the summer is pretty far off but usually i play baseball 3 times, a week, work 40-50 hours and party, so between all 3 unless something significant comes up I could probably help.

Hey,
Last off-season Mike (CHL Commish) ended up re-rating ALL of the players in the OHL, QMJHL and WHL. The W almost got abandoned as he didn't have time to do it, but I offered some assistance to him to keep the league afloat until we found a suitable commish...much like this season with the OHL and then we found Jerry...the saviour of this sim-league.
To re-rate every player in the OHL is a HUGE task...but it is doable. I think that either Jerry will be taking charge of the re-rates and he will figure out what is the best course of action. In my opinion, I think its best if he can do them all himself..but that is a BIG undertaking. The best bet would be if a few GMs were "trained" by Jerry to do the re-rates to help him out...by keeping a small group doing the re-rates, it will ensure that the re-rates are done as closely as possible to each other.
In any case, this is just my opinion.

Andrew makes a good point--the re-rates last season took alot of time to do by only a few bodies (GLPH, KNG, COMMISH, OSH and one or two others).
I agree there should be a strong attempt at consistency and knowing Jerry like I do, he will ensure that consistency will happen wrt the re-rates.
Jerry has this league moving in the right direction.
Cheers, Dean

I agree. I believe with the changes made to the league so far, it should be made for smooth sailing for the off-season. But the main thing is consistency with rankings. I don't care who does it, just as long as there is consistency

Sorry I haven't been on this message board for the last week......but...
Ironically, I've kind of been doing homework for this league. I just arrived home from a week long trip taking in games around the OHL. I was in Oshawa for the prospects game and then traveled to Brampton, Mississauga and Belleville to watch some games. I have 'press' access to the games, which means I get all the teams press packages. This package includes details on the players and importantly depth charts and line setups. I can take this information, while I'm in the press box, and make notes as to what players are on special teams and so forth. I am collecting all this information, so I can refer to it during the summer for rerates. I would appreciate any help I can get for re-rates. I don't need everyone to commit to doing a team, but what would be helpful is if you are a season ticket holder or see 40-50 games a year, like myself, then you could help out this summer. I can try to do the re-rates and then get all those willing to help to go over them and fine tune anything that looks off, based on your personal observations/knowledge.
Let me know if tha's acceptable.?
