So the way we currently handle this situation is if a player turns into a professional hockey player by going to the NHL, AHL, ECHL, KHL, Europe, CIAS then we will remove them from the league all together.
If a player played this year, but then the following season, they weren't good enough to make a CHL team and we send to Junior A, we WILL keep them in the league because they will most likely get a call up eventually as an injury reserve.
The players that went to the NHL will be suspended until they play their 10 NHL games. After that, they will be removed as players and can be put on the team as a prospect just in case the NHL team decides to send them back to Junior by January. That rarely happens but it does.
What do we think or these rules? They are realistic. Its a lot of work in September and it sucks as you see your stars drop from your roster, but once your into the season, I personally prefer seeing players in the league that are really in the CHL, not old faces that don't belong.
Thoughts?

Agreed. At this point I don't think you can make a change, GMs have adapted and made trades assuming this rule will be in place. I belie it to be perfectly fair.

I don't like having players that didn't make the roster still in our league.
Often those are fringe players that played only a few games last year and don't make any impact in the league. Their ratings are often 'off' because they played so few games.
I know that having these players on the rosters has very little impact on the outcome of the league but policing the league and explaining this to GMs, time and time again, is time consuming.
But it's a little thing and so I haven't made an issue of it. Whatever way we go is good for me.

I agree with leaving the rules as is as they mimic reality and I prefer things to remain as realistic as possbile

YOu can if you want to. Or just release them. But we wont remove them from the league until the summer or if they go pro. because any team can pick them up this year in real life because they are still eligable to play junior hockey.
