Well, we did the sample league this year based on the real rosters at worldjuniors.simhl.netAll the general managers participate but I don't know if there was any interest from the rest of the general managers in the leagues. So for 2010, should we just forget about it? Or should we select the top 10 teams from the previous year or current year to general manage the countrys and the are alloud to select any players from the CHL to play. I will then auto fill the rest of the rosters for the European teams with current players. When the tournment starts, you will suspend those players in the games so they can't be used while the tournement is going on. If there is a major injury, it would carry over to your league. Is this too ambitious or just a pain?

I thought it was fun this season... and I enjoyed being a part of it. There were a lot of upsets and surprises, unlike the real thing... lol
I think trying to do it while suspending the real players from the CHL teams might create more headaches than it is worth. It would also potentially create problems for teams with small rosters and limited extra players. The real CHL teams have a lot of options when it comes to filling in for players that are playing in the World Juniors, including signing free agents or calling up prospects. We can't do that unless they've already played in the CHL league at that point.
I would love to be involved again next year, but think that it should be run the same as this time...

I agree. It was a good time and I think that we should do it again, but not suspend the players because of the potential roster problems. If we take the top ten teams in the league...then maybe have an awards system in place instead of randomly selecting the teams. The top team in the CHL gets first pick of the team he gets, and so on so forth. Or we could just randomly assign the teams to the top ten like you did this year. Or we could just do this...if there are ten teams in the tourny...instead of taking the top ten...cause some GMs might not be interested...each league has three teams to fill and the Commish of that league asks the league who wants to take part and assigns the three teams based on either standings or my preference...GM participation. The tenth team could then be given to either the CHL commish or if Mike doesn't want that team...he could assign it to one of the leagues.

Well I'm in the minority here, but with Mike B. I think we are starting to get our rosters full enough that we could suspend players from the rosters. It'd be a couple players on each team, at the most and I think we could pull it off. It'd really add to the 'realism' of the league and if we can work it, then I think it's a great idea. I think we need to let GMs apply to run a team. Then, based on standings at a certain point, we reward the teams. This way our best GMs are rewarded with this perk. Just an idea. I think the winning GM should get to keep his team for the next season.

I agree to keep the World Junior around. I prefer the idea of suspending players that are actually participating in the tournament as it provides the realism of the player being away from the team. every team that Ive seen has 3-5 extra players and that would more than adequatly cover any players gone for the tourny. I think that each of the 3 leagues should be equally represented by 3 gm's and the 10th team could be distributed by the commish at his discretion
