I'm not sure what the Q and dub are doing about finances. In the OHL - it's turned off.
I'd REALLY like to see it turned on. I think there are advantages in doing so - -icing a team good enough to get revenue (teams can't tank on purpose) -free agent bidding -arena upgrades to improve revenue -bidding to host the Memorial Cup.
I think revenue was turned on in the first season or two. Just wondering if Mike and/or Andy had any input on how we could make it work?

I see no reason why we cant have finances turned on. As much as people like o disagree the world of junior hockey is a business just like the NHL the whole point of these teams is to generate money which is which is why we no longer see a team in Cornwall, North Bay, Granby along with teams just recently returning to Montreal, Toronto and Niagara Falls

I think we will have to reset the finances in the leagues as soon as the regular season ends. start everyone off with the same amount of cash around $250,000.
The first year, we had really no idea how the money worked and salaries, so some teams were making millions. Way too high.
But I think having the players salaries close to the minor leagues pro salaries, the finances will balance out.

What if we introduced a salary cap to the CHL leagues? I know that isn't reality...but it would make free agent signings much more similar. We could have a league minimum for players and a maximum...obviously nothing like the NHL salaries...but maybe the minimum could be $50,000 for a player and 150,000 would be the minimim. Each team would have a cap of somewhere in the vicinity of $3 million.
Or...we could have a team cap and have minimum dollar amounts for 16 year olds, 17 and 18 and so on so forth, kinda like we do now...but the maximum for any age of these players would be the same.
What are everyone's thoughts on this?

Thats interesting. I know I enjoy the salary cap in the NHL.
I Don't know if it could work since salarys are fixed right now. Unless we built some formula to make different salarys based on overal and potential
it would prevent a team of only having 19 year olds and be screwed the next season.
Would like to hear other comments on this.

I think salaries should stay fixed, its juniors we're talking about here, there is no reason to have any salary battles for players. But thats just my thoughts.
