Here is a new thread that I just thought of.
Starting next season, should we continue just using the real host city of the Memorial Cup or should we allow teams apply to be the host. Then the 3 commishioners and myself will select who will be the Memorial Cup host.
Next season with be the Western Hockey League. So David could ask a couple teams that think they will have a competitive team for the follow year to apply and explain why there roster is ready to win the cup.
Thoughts?

I LOVE IT.
I just had this conversation with Dean E. (Oshawa GM) a few days ago.
I think we should have the league's GMs apply to be host and then the Mike and the 3 commishes can review the applications and reward the host!!
This would allow for us to ensure the host city is competitive (as that would be one of the criterias to host it.) Right now we could end up with a real-life host that deserves to host it, while in our league they're terrible.
This is something I would REALLY like to see implemented ASAP! Thanks Mike for reminding me.

No problem.
Rimouski will still get to host this season, but I think starting anytime, David can start asking the WHL general managers to start sending in their applications.
We should make a template (example application) with all the details we require.

I know in real life, they make the host team pay around $1,000,000 dollars to the CHL to host the tournement. Did we want to charge a hosting fee?

I would like to see a hosting fee - YES - if we get the financial options working for the leagues. For now they can just right the cheque to me!

I agree and love the idea! If we charge to host it...the team should get LOTS of money to host it as well...also, we shouldn't charge a million because most teams only have like $250,000

There's only a couple of us that could afford to pay a million dollars in real money for the privilege of hosting the sim Mem cup...
I'll have to think about it...

What if you just did something like an auction. Teams bid with the money they made the season before and the highest bidder wins. If the winning team dosen't have a competitive team then thats their problem, waste of money for them. Anyways I'm just putting it out there.

this cant be just a pure money bid and highest bid wins. The teams should be based both on money for the league as well as how good the team actualy is. No league wants their so called host representative being made a spectacle of and in the process bringing down how highly respected a particular league is
